The dialnote mobile app gives you full calling capabilities on the go. You can make outbound calls, receive incoming calls, and access all the same controls available on desktop—right from your phone.
Making Outbound Calls#
To place a call from the mobile app:
- Tap the Dialer icon in the bottom navigation
- Select your "From" number using the dropdown at the top (this is the number the recipient will see)
- Enter the phone number using the keypad or paste a number
- Tap the green Call button to start the call
The app automatically formats US numbers as you type. For international calls, start with "+" followed by the country code. The app assumes US (+1) by default if you don't include a country code.
Quick add contact
After entering a number, tap "Add as contact" to save the number to your contacts before or after placing the call.
You can also start calls directly from your inbox or contact list. Tap the phone icon next to any contact or conversation to open the dialer with the number pre-filled.
Receiving Incoming Calls#
When someone calls one of your dialnote numbers, you'll get a push notification with the caller's info. The incoming call screen shows:
- The caller's phone number or contact name (if saved)
- Two action buttons: Accept (green) and Decline (red)
Tap Accept to answer the call, or Decline to send it to voicemail. If you've set up an AI agent or call flow on that number, the caller may interact with that first before reaching you.
Background calls
Make sure you've enabled notifications for dialnote so you don't miss incoming calls when the app is in the background or your phone is locked.
In-Call Controls#
Once connected, you'll see a control deck at the bottom of the screen with these options:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Mic | Mute or unmute your microphone |
| Speaker | Switch between earpiece, speaker, or Bluetooth audio |
| Keypad | Open the DTMF keypad to enter digits (useful for phone menus) |
| Hold | Put the caller on hold (they'll hear hold music) |
| End | Hang up the call |
Tap the chevron at the top of the control deck to expand additional options:
- Record Call — Start or stop manual recording (only visible if manual recording is enabled for your number)
- Transfer Call — Transfer the active call (see below for transfer types)
The call timer displays your call duration at the top of the screen. You can also see the contact's name and number while on the call.
Pre-mute and pre-speaker
You can toggle Mute and Speaker while the call is still ringing. This lets you pre-mute before the other person picks up, or switch to speakerphone before the conversation starts.
Transferring Calls#
When you tap Transfer Call in the expanded control deck, you'll see two options:
- Cold Transfer — Transfers the caller immediately to the target number. You're disconnected as soon as the transfer starts.
- Warm Transfer — Lets you speak with the recipient first before completing the transfer. This is useful when you need to brief the other person about the caller's issue.
Audio Routing#
Tap the Speaker button to switch audio output. If Bluetooth headphones or a car system are connected, you'll see a picker with three options:
- Earpiece — Hold the phone to your ear like a normal call
- Speaker — Use the phone's speakerphone
- Bluetooth — Route audio through your connected Bluetooth device
The app detects available devices automatically and shows the Bluetooth option only when a device is connected.
Adding Participants#
During an active call, tap the user-plus icon in the top-right corner to add another person to the call. Enter their phone number and tap Add. This creates a conference call with all participants.
Conference calls
Adding participants requires your call to be fully connected. The option is disabled during the dialing phase.
After the Call#
When you hang up, dialnote processes the call automatically. If AI features are enabled for your number, you'll get:
- A full transcript of the conversation
- An AI-generated summary highlighting key points
- Action items extracted from the call
These appear in your inbox under the contact's conversation thread. The call recording (if enabled) is also saved there for playback.
