The dialnote mobile app keeps you connected to your business calls and messages even when you're away from your desk. Push notifications alert you to missed calls, new text messages, team mentions, and other important activity so you never miss what matters.

Push Notification Types#

dialnote sends push notifications for these events:

  • Missed calls — Get alerted when you miss a call on one of your business numbers
  • New text messages — Receive instant alerts for incoming SMS to your numbers
  • Call recordings — Know when a recording is ready to review
  • Notes and @mentions — Get notified when a teammate adds a note to a conversation. If someone @mentions you, you'll see a "You were mentioned" notification with higher priority
  • AI agent transfers — When an AI message bot needs human help, team members on that number get a push alert

Only members assigned to a phone number receive notifications for that number's activity. You won't get alerts for numbers you don't have access to.

Enabling Notifications#

The first time you open dialnote, the app asks for permission to send notifications. If you declined earlier or need to re-enable them:

On iOS:

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone
  2. Scroll down and tap dialnote
  3. Tap Notifications
  4. Toggle Allow Notifications on
  5. Choose your preferred alert style (Banners, Alerts, or Lock Screen)

On Android:

  1. Open Settings on your device
  2. Tap Apps (or Apps & notifications)
  3. Find and tap dialnote
  4. Tap Notifications
  5. Toggle notifications on and adjust your preferences

On Android, dialnote creates a Messages notification channel set to maximum importance. This means notifications can break through Do Not Disturb mode and show on your lock screen by default. You can adjust this in your device's notification channel settings for dialnote.

Alerts Screen#

The mobile app includes a built-in Alerts screen where you can review in-app notifications from your team:

  1. Open the dialnote app
  2. Tap Notifications in the side menu
  3. You'll see a list of recent alerts sorted by time

The Alerts screen tracks two types of in-app events:

  • Mentions — When a teammate @mentions you in a conversation note
  • Assignments — When a conversation gets assigned to you

From the Alerts screen, you can:

  • Tap an alert to open the related conversation
  • Mark all as read to clear the unread badge count
  • Mark individual items as read using the button on each unread alert
  • Pull down to refresh the list and check for new alerts

Unread alerts show a colored left border and bold text so they're easy to spot. The badge count on the Notifications menu item shows how many unread alerts you have.

Managing Notification Sounds#

dialnote uses distinct notification sounds to help you identify activity at a glance:

  • Messages and alerts use your device's default notification sound with a custom vibration pattern
  • Incoming calls trigger VoIP alerts that work even when your phone is on silent (on supported devices)

To adjust notification sounds, go to your device's notification settings for dialnote and customize the sound, vibration, and banner options.

Troubleshooting#

Not receiving notifications?

  1. Check that notifications are enabled in your device settings
  2. Make sure dialnote has permission to run in the background
  3. Verify you're signed in to the app
  4. Check your internet connection — notifications require an active connection to register your push token
  5. Try signing out and back in. This re-registers your device token with dialnote's servers

Notifications delayed?

Battery optimization settings on Android can delay notifications. Add dialnote to your battery optimization exceptions to receive alerts in real time.

Make sure you're running the latest version of the app. Older versions may not support deep linking for all notification types.
